Cleanings & Prevention in Edmonton
Preventive Dental Care
Preventive dentistry is the key to a long-lasting, healthy smile. At Gallery Dental in Edmonton, AB – we’re focused on giving our patients the information and preventive care that they deserve to limit the amount of dental care that they need over time.
We do this by formulating a preventive care plan that involves:
During your new patient examination and subsequent check-ups, Dr. Sekhon completes a thorough evaluation of all of your teeth, oral structures, existing restorations, and aesthetic concerns. He also performs a TMJ evaluation, sleep apnea screening, periodontal assessment, tooth extractions, and occlusal evaluation. In fact, you’ll likely feel that these are the most comprehensive exams that you have ever had in a dental office!
Our dental hygienists provide preventive cleanings as well as periodontal therapies. We work closely with you to help you identify areas of concern – so that you can take steps to prevent problems like gum disease or tooth decay before they start.
Digital radiography allows us to use high definition imaging techniques to identify concerns like bone loss, tooth decay, and increase our communication with patients. Dr. Sekhon enlarges the images on our in-room monitors to discuss his findings and interpretation of each individual film.
Some cavities are too small to be seen on an x-ray until they have had the chance to enlarge. Using transillumination equipment, Dr. Sekhon can pinpoint cavities that are beginning to leak into the enamel but are not yet identifiable through a standard exam or x-ray. What does that mean to you? We can correct and fill the area of decay when it is smaller, preserving healthy tooth structure.
Protective Oral Appliances
Gallery Dental offers a full line of protective mouth guards like athletic sports guards, TMJ splints and sleep apnea appliances.
